I have the following dataset looking at the numbers of tackles missed (DefenceTacklesMissed) by Phase (DefencePhaseSort) and by Dimension (PhaseDim)
PhaseDim, DefencePhaseSort, DefenceTacklesMissed
PhaseSetPiece, 1, 2
PhaseOpenPlay, 1, 0
RuckSpeeddefence, 1, 3
PhaseSetPiece. 1, 1
PhaseOpenPlay, 2, 0
RuckSpeeddefence, 2, 1
PhaseSetPiece, 3, 3
PhaseOpenPlay, 1, 2
RuckSpeeddefence, 2, 2
PhaseOpenPlay, 2, 1
RuckSpeeddefence, 3
PhaseSetPiece, 1,0
PhaseOpenPlay, 1,1
RuckSpeeddefence, 3,1
I have worked out the max value for tackles missed in each Phase and by Dimension
However, I am struggling to calculate the TOTAL number of tackles missed by Dimension (PhaseDim) in each Phase(DefencePhaseSort)
I have the following expression, that returns the max value for DefenceTacklesMissed.
sum({<DefencePhaseSort = {$(#vPHASENO1)}>} Total <PhaseDim> DefenceTacklesMissed)
For eg, I am wanting the total numbers of DefenceTacklesMissed for PhaseSetPiece in the 1st Phase

In which context to you want to calculate the number?
If you want to see the number in a chart, try creating a straight table chart with dimensions
PhaseDim and DefencePhaseSort and as expression
=Sum(DefenceTacklesMissed)
Use the total qualifier to disregard either one or both of the dimensions:
=Sum(TOTAL DefenceTacklesMissed)
=Sum(TOTAL<PhaseDim > DefenceTacklesMissed)
=Sum(TOTAL<DefencePhaseSort > DefenceTacklesMissed)
Use Set expressions to filter your record set for specific values:
sum({<DefencePhaseSort = {$(#vPHASENO1)}>} DefenceTacklesMissed)
sum({<PhaseDim = {PhaseSetPiece}>} DefenceTacklesMissed)
sum({<PhaseDim = {PhaseSetPiece},DefencePhaseSort = {$(#vPHASENO1)} >} DefenceTacklesMissed)
or combine set analysis with the TOTAL qualifier (two different concepts):
