Adding node to Qlik Sense cluster with May 2022 Patch 4

Hi All,

I have 2 node Qlik Sense cluster running with version "May 2022 Patch4". Now needed to add additional RIM to existing cluster where I will start installing May 2022 version so

"Is it ok to join Cluster with May 2022 version and then patch the newly added RIM node with patch 4 ?"

Should we follow this process or anything else ?

Thanks in advance !!

Aniket

This should be fine.. you can add new node to existing and apply the patch

Hello @AniketVasadkar2 ,

Thanks for posting.

Yes, it's okay to join a cluster with a lower version and then patch the newly added node to the same version as the existing nodes. It is a common process to patch the newly added node after joining the cluster.

Here is the recommended process:

  1. Join the new RIM node to the cluster using the May 2022 version.
  2. Patch the new RIM node to Patch 4.
  3. Verify that all nodes are running the same version and that the cluster is functioning as expected.

Cheers,

Albert

Hi @Albert_Candelario @bhaskar_sm ,

I can confirm now, this thing works.

Just one twist like we can join the cluster with May 2022 but can not redistribute certificate to new Node from central without patching. So process is below

1. Join cluster with May 2022

2. Patch installation (This is must else step 3 will fail)

3. Try registering the node on QMC

Thanks

Aniket

In continuation of this topic, We wish to upgrade Qlik Sense.

Current version:  May 2022 Patch4

Do we need to "un - install" patch and then attempt upgrade to new version ?

@Albert1 @bhaskar_sm

Thanks in Advance

Hello @aniketvasadkar_eq.,

Uninstalling the patch should not be necesary unless the installer finds any issue, and then it might be needed.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Albert
