Hi,

Check this thread for various scenarios where macros are useful

Useful Qlikview Macros

Generally macros are used to export charts to Excel, PPT or to send email etc.

Macros are nothing but set of code.

For example:

1. if we want to export chart to PPT, we can achieve through macros.

2. Auto zoom of dashboard based on system screen resolution, can be achieved through macros.

Note: Most of the platforms will not accept macros as they are not that much safe.

Hey if generally they are used to export charts to excel then we can use NPrinting for that purpose. It is much easier than using macros. What say ??

Thanks

True,

But you will not pay for NPrinting with macros.

Macros has it own pros and cons.

It depends on situations.

Hi,

Generally means most of the times, you can use NPrinting but you need to buy the license for using NPriniting.  Without paying any single dollar you can do this by using macro.

Hi Nikhil,

Generally macros are not suggestible, it works mostly in Plugin.  But in some cases if they are not unavoidable then we have to go with macros.

Macros will work only IE plugin mode, but not in AJAX mode.

And more over in future support for IE plugin mode will not be there by platform.
