Task Eorror Log

If a task in the task schedule failed to complete successfully how can I know. Is there any log file that I can check?

Thank you.

When running tasks under QDS (QlikView Distribution Service) control, have a look in the dedicated log folder on the server. By default, its name is:

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\Log

In that directory, there is a folder for each day that had tasks executed. Inside that one, every task creates a new folder whose name includes the start time and the task name.

Every folder can contain a maximum of three files:

TaskLog.txt = the task report of the QDS. Usually just a lot of spam but highly helpful every so often

DocumentLog.txt = the script log, but only exists if you enabled Generate Log File in Document Properties

DistributionReport.xml (not sure about that name)

Best,

Peter

If you enabled the Generate Log option in the document properties there will be a log file in the same folder where the .qvw file is stored. By default it will have the same name as the .qvw file with .log appended.

Hi Marie-Anne,

in addition to what Gysbert has said, if you have the QMC, you can enable the automatic sending of an email to yourself or anyone you want in case of a reload_failure. We have that for a while now and it usually works well and fast.

(on the "System" tab of the QMC under "Setup", you have to set up an email server)

HTH
