Deploy Qlikview Server to Azure VM Cloud

We have Qlikview Server running on a on-premise windows server. We have separated App Server (running Qlikview reload jobs & NPrinting reports) and Web Server (only Access Point) on two different servers.

Due to unavoidable circumstances we must migrate our ONLY App Server to MS Azure VM.

We've spent lots of time searching through community as well as internet finding Step-by-step guidance to deploy Qlikview Server on an Azure VM (Cloud) but couldn't find any relevant documentation. We see there are lots of other users looking for the same solution.

I wonder if Qlik team can put together a neat documentation on Deployment steps for Qlikview Server on cloud platforms (Azure & AWS). I strongly believe that would be a great help for many community users.

Thanks,

Ketan

Sure you can.
You will, however, need to take down the old server, because you cannot have two servers running on the same license at the same time.

The procedure is detailed here. Even if it mentions upgrading, you can still use the current version if you prefer:
https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/November2017/Subsystems/Server/Content/QlikView-Server/QVSRM_Up...

You can also contact your account manager to get a test license for the duration of the migration. However, with the test license the previous CAL allocation will not be preserved. Once you verify that the new system is working fine, you can shut down the old server, apply the production license to the new one, and then migrate the .pgo files to get back the allocated CAls.

Hi. Since QlikView doesn't have the complexity that you might encounter with Qlik Sense (for instance, when it comes to websocket) there are no specific recommendations for cloud deployment. Of course, all the basic requirements are still relevant. So, network speed, hardware performance, resource allocation, domain trust, and so on, needs to be considered as for any other QlikView Deployment.

Thanks Daniele for the prompt response.

Can we use/migrate the same licenses (Qlikview Product license, Document CALs & User CALs) that we are using on an on-prem server to Azure VM? I would really appreciate your assistance on this.
