Connecting to Microsoft Fabric SQL endpoints is not possible.

Qlik Cloud Analytics does currently not have built in support for reading Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouses or Lakehouse SQL endpoints.

To the best of my knowledge the Azure Synapse Web Connector that is built-in into Qlik Cloud has all the technical capabilities for authenticating and querying data. It supports the correct SQL protocol and has support for Service Principal authentication. But it appears that the connector is hard coded to prevent connecting to Microsoft Fabric SQL (which by all technical means should be 100% compatible with Azure Synapse).

Ms Fabric SQL addresses are of the format *.datawarehouse.pbidedicated.windows.net and the Synapse connector only allows *azuresynapse.net connections. This is quite the blocker for us and it seems quite silly that the Web connector cannot be updated to allow also Ms Fabric.

Do you have any workarounds for accessing Ms Fabric SQL endpoints? When will MS Fabric SQL endpoints be officially supported?

BR,

-Christian

I can see there is an ideation raised for this, and Qlik have confirmed it is on the roadmap, but there's been no update on this so far.

It would be really good if Qlik could comment with an estimated timeframe as we need to plan a migration of multiple tenants and a new tenant to MS Fabric
