Connecting to cubes from qlikview

Hi,

Can we connect to OLAP cubes ( Essbase cubes/ Cognos cubes) from qlikview?

If so then how can we do it? If not then is there any way that the OLAP cubes that are already designed can be used by qlikview so that we can design user friendly, interactive UI

You have couple of options.

SAP SQL Connector: Using this you would have load all the fact, SID (Dimensions), Text and Master data tables of your cube separately and link them back in QV to build your star schema at QV side. I know this sounds too much but trust be it's very easy and can be done in couple of hours once you get hang of it.

SAP OLAP Connector: Using this you would be able to connect to your queries and download data into QlikView. As alwasy, easy methods comes with limitations :-). This one also has some limitations like 1 Mi records support per fetch, no access to variables (i think), and so. But ofcourse there are workarounds you can develop or get some help to get developed for your environment.

DSO or ODS Connector: As it states, it will allow you to connect to ODS and download data.

My favorite is first one - reason: always works. If you can use #1 on top od DSO (or ODS) that would be perfect.

Best part is when you buy SAP COnnector from QLikTech, you get all of above mentioned together. Then you can play with any and see what fits your needs.

Hope I answered your question.

It's not available to download. You would need to get it from QlikTech or your account partner.

By the way, it comes with some transports which would need to be imported into your SAP system. It's notjust download and start extracting data. Just an FYI.

BIG news. Qlik has a Essbase Connector in the Download Portal.

So this should be solved.
