Section Access & User Attributes

I have been under the impression that section access & dynamic data reduction could not use user attributes nor session attributes.

However, I was reading this the Qlik Design Blog which read:

We have also introduced the capabilities to use attributes sent in at the time of the user authentication to be used with section access. This means that we now can base what data you get access to using the group attribute that can be inserted using SAML or tickets

Source: https://community.qlik.com/blogs/qlikviewdesignblog/2015/09/21/tips-and-tricks-for-section-access-in...

I could not find any examples or documentation of this ability and was wondering if it was undocumented, removed, etc. It would be incredibly useful for my current project.

The key is the last sentence of what you posted...

This means that we now can base what data you get access to using the group attribute that can be inserted using SAML or tickets

You can only use whatever you map from the SAML response to the "group" in Qlik.  Additional information and great write up here:User.Environment.What?! - Session Attributes in Qlik Sense
