your question is too ambiguous

if you are referring to the server these are some of the things that I would consider

does the access point display any document ?   if it does are you able to open them ?

can you access QMC ?

are the services running ?

can you telnet into QV ports

Sorry for my question

Actually we are migrating database from DB2 to oracle..they asked me to come out with some best regression test that has to be done

in that case you want to something like the following

check if you have connectivity to the new db

if your extraction scripts run

I wouldn't test transformation and application unless some of your QVW are running queries against the DB to pull extra information

Just checking connectivity is a very risky strategy. I would recommend a more thorough test, which would include transformation and the actual application. Testing every application might not be possible, but you should be able to pick a few key ones that the business uses and run through them, identify some key indicator (for example total sales, stock count, etc) that can provide you with a good feel of the data in the application, reload on the new database and verify that the numbers still matches.

agreed and that is why I recommended to check if the extractions scripts work, because normally in the transformations your qvd's are already loaded and there is no need to go back into the DB to pull any data

Thank you all for your reply

They are using QC-pin for testing. If we are doing testing in the DATABACKBONE.. does it have effect on link tables.
