Table Chart Question

Hello,

I was wondering if there is any way to set a dimension in a Table Chart as unselectable to a user.  For example, if I had an Area dimension that had the values North, South, West and East in it, usually if a user clicks on North, the chart will refresh with only data that is associated with the North area.  Is there any way to disable this functionality so that when the user clicks on the Area nothing happens?

Any information would be grealy appreciated!

Have you try the Read Only option in the General tab?

Jean-Luc,

Thank you for your suggestion.  That works for the whole Table Chart.  I have four dimensions and I only want two of them to be read only.  Any other ideas?

use set analysis to ignore the dimension, is this not suitable for your requirement, like below:

=sum(${<Area= >}Sale), so Area selections will be discarded, will take all area...

IsrarKhan,

Thanks for your response but that isn't going to work for me in this case.

Hi,

There is a workaround, create a text box of same size as your dimension column and place it over the dimension.

Make it "100%" in transparency and in Layout - make layer to "top".

May be there other ways to do this..

Abey

Abey,

Thanks for the reply.  I have used that method in the past.  I was just hoping there was a property somewhere within the chart that I was missing that would allow me to do what I need to without the need for extra work arounds.

I've created an example with IsrarKhan's suggestion, and it worked for me.

Take a look!

Rodrigo,

Thank you for your example.  It's a good suggestion, but unfortunately it will not work for me in this case.

This might work, not fully tested though.

Use a field trigger on the dimensions which then clears that field. You would need to set up dummy fields so that the fields can be selected in other areas, so your dataload might look something like ...

data:

load region, region as regionDummy, sales inline [

region,    sales

north,    1500

south,    2000

east,    500

west,    3000];

... and in your chart use the Dummy field for your dimension and add a trigger to clear the same field OnSelect.

EDIT: Maybe just use 'Back' as the Action will suffice!
