Map of the US

I want to use a map of the US to plot information for a contract. How do I load a jpg or gif to begin this process? Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

You can use Google map to represent dinamically your datas on a map.

If you want to just show a JPG then its pretty easy.

1. Create a text box

2. Change background to Image

3. Click on the Change button next to it

4. Browse to your image and double click it

5. Click ok

You now have your map!

Martin - thank you. I just viewed a sample from one user that incorporates Goolge maps. I will look into this as well.

Yes,

Right Qlik / New Sheet Object / Text Object

On bottom of the pop-up : Background / Image / Change...

Transparency : 0%

On the right of the pop-up : Image Stretch / Keep Aspect

Hope that helps you.

If you want a State by State heatmap, you may want to try the Google chart API instead of the Map API -- it's simpler. You can find an example in the QV Cookbook at http://robwunderlich.com/Download.html

Hello,

Not exactly sure what you are trying to do but a while back I posted a "State Chart" that is essentially a scatter chart with a background image of the united states. The chart has been designed so that you can link your information with the list of states so that a plot will appear for each state.

Just look up State Chart in the search and you will find the qvw.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Marc - I am trying to plot the locations of differnt government agencies on a map. I am new to this and haven't figured out the best way to do this. As a cross list I am going to mark the locations of our current offices in relation to to government locations. I am having a bit of a challenge using Google maps as I am not clear on some of the direction I have received. I will look for the State Chart you posted which sounds very close to what I am trying to accomplish.

Thank you very much - Myrna
