error : Failed to connect to QlikView Server.

error : Failed to connect to QlikView Server. This error is most likely because the server is not contactable or that the account the QlikView Distribution Service is running as is lacking permissions.

As the above error log appears, the task fails frequently.

I'm not sure which part to check.
Can you figure out the cause?

Dear partner,

Please check the following partner support duties

The information you provided is not sufficient to investigate the issue.

I recommend providing more information on the support case that you have started with the Qlik Support desk as well.

On that case, recommend you provide

  • Detailed steps to reproduce the issue.
  • Expected Results;
  • Actual results: Include images and snapshots of the problem
  • When did the issue first appear?
  • What version of QlikView?
  • Is it test or production environment
  • etc.

I have in the meantime linked this conversation to your internal support case.

Kind regards.

Hi @qwebnm,

Does this task fail each time it is run or intermittently?
Is this a multinode environment where QVS is installed on one Windows Server and QDS is installed on another, separate Windows Server? Or, are both of these QV services installed on a single Windows Server?

Typically the error you are referencing is due to the QVS being busy or overburdened at the time the task was run. Or it could mean that in a multinode environment, port 4747 isn't open between the two servers. Also, communication between the QVS and QDS may be reaching a timeout.

When doing a Publisher server distribution, the traffic is over the QVP protocol on port 4747. If you configure the task to use a folder distribution instead of server distribution, does it still error out?

So to proceed, suggest you check the following 3 things:

  1. Check the performance of the QVS server during the running of this task using Windows Process Monitor
  2. If multinode environemnt, ensure port 4747 is open between servers
  3. Increase the SocketTimeOutInSeconds timeout value in the %Program Files%\QlikView\Publisher\Distribution Service\QlikviewDistributionService.exe.config - see article Timeout Values Related To QlikView Deployment for details
