Store Master Items in a QVD

We have a singular data model that we reuse in many of our apps, about 97% of them. Master Items are great to allow our non-technical users to create with more ease, but having to rebuild master items from app to app is cumbersome.

Is there a way to store these master items in a QVD so in a new app I can just paste the scrip for our data model followed by the load script for the master items QVD?

If this is not possible are there any extensions/external solutions to this?

This not possible to store masteritems in QVD. Suppose you have create masteritems in datamodel. If you taking binary load from datamodel to dashboard that time also masteritems not coming to dashboard app.

This is something I would vote for in Ideation: a simple way to handle master dimensions and measures (at least) via Qlik script, through some simple Meta-Fields tagging.

See Instant App from @stevedark with Master Items created based on the Instant Dims and Expressions....

And it can grow in many ways, including based on the new external set analysis (for point in time, for instance ...)

I know, there are ways... with app serialization, SSE, etc....
But I remember a time Qlik had the slogan "Simplifying Analyses for Everyone"

Hi @cotiso_hanganu

Thank you for the mention of my Instant Sense App. For those who haven't seen it, you can download it from here: https://www.quickintelligence.co.uk/instant-qlik-sense-app/

The app allows you to load any data, along with some meta-data and you have a working app straight away.

The bit of the app which is interesting in this context is the fact that all of the expressions are stored in a spreadsheet and then loaded into the app. As this thread rightly points out, they can not be loaded as Master Items, and that would be nice, but they can be referenced by name:

$(vExpName(Blog Posts))

The secret sauce of how all that works is included in the app, which you can download from the link above (it's free!).

You could have one spreadsheet of measures that you load into multiple applications, and perhaps columns to flag which expressions load into which apps or groups of apps.

You can see the app in action here:

Hope that helps someone.

2 additions to @stevedark intro:

1. the level of reusability of InstantApp is fantastic, on one side.

2. On top of that, the range of prebuilt options included is huge: just the InstantTable page will give you , for a model with 24 columns (measures and dimensions) "only" 7 x 10 ^ 23 combinations aka 70 thousand of millions of millions of combinations ~  as many atoms are on Earth or as many stars are visible from Earth.
Based on these calculation we renamed the approach as the Qosmic App/Table/Top/TimeLine/Dashboard/etc.
More details on how we ended up with these numbers : https://qqinfo.ro/en/qqinfo-multiplies-the-power-of-qlik-to-cosmic-dimensions/

Tx once again for sharing it, Steve ! (and it's not the only cool free app from Steve that we love !)

Hello,

I'd like to recommend Gitoqlok to you – a free browser extension that can be easily downloaded and installed. Gitoqlok is a version control tool that can definitely help export master elements from one app to another.

Here's the link to download Gitoqlok:

You can also find a demo by Alex here:
