Qlik Sense for small business customers and freelance consultants?

I am a freelance Qlik consultant who have worked as a Qlik developer for 10+ years within various roles.

Right now I work projects for larger businesses but I also work with small customers who have old QlikView environments that would require a move to the cloud.

However the limit of minimum 10 users for Qlik Sense Cloud prepaid for 1 year pose a serious challenge in convincing those small businesses (and myself) that they should migrate to Qlik Sense Cloud.

For the customers with less than 10 users there is just no option for them to use Qlik Sense except a 30 day trial?

But it gets worse. Since I am a small business Qlik professional paying 200$ USD per month just to have a test environment, where I can test new functionality and keep up my competence, feels a bit steep even if I can afford it. I have not even gotten a reply from Qlik regarding my application as a partner, and that's fine I am way to small for them to bother. But what options are left for me to remain an independent consultant working with Qlik?

Hi @igoralcantara

There have been some who have been calling for this kind of option for many years. I can well recall being on a call where many were shouting about the decision to stop Desktop from being freely available. At the time that seemed the perfect way to let students build things for their studies, whilst the lack of sharing options made it of very limited use for anything real. Sadly, some businesses were using Desktop and a low paid resource to copy and paste and disseminate. I still don't think that a very small minority breaking the licence agreement should have stopped it being readily available. Even now, four years on, it is possible to "unlock" Sense Desktop for personal and offline use.

However, Desktop is not where it is at now, and people expect to be able to use Cloud software. I still believe that a Cloud environment which is seriously limited (single user, no export etc.) should be available for allowing people to play with and learn the product. This is the only way to get new talent learning Sense and being the analysts of the future.

Totally agree whit that :

I must be mistaken, surely, but I’m not following Qlik news anymore just saw this thread got some new replies 🙂
