Qlik SAP Connector with SAP S4/HANA on Rise ( BTP with CPI )

Dear all,

on my company we have SAP S4/HANA on-premise on Rise and we would like to understand if we can use the SAP Connectors to extract data.

From the documentation i can understand that these connectors calls the SAP NetWeaver to get the data, but in our infrastructure we do not have it, we have the BTP with inside CPI.

I would like to understand is someone has some information/documentation about this configuration  and if the SAP connectors are supported.

Our qlik partner are working to understand this possibity but i would like to have also a feedback for the community.

@Tomas_Sommergyll , can you help me? Or maybe you can include other experts on this topic. Thanks

Thanks

Hello  @micheledenardi ,

we are aware that there are different options for SAP customers within the RISE with SAP concept. I'll try to be as clear as possible:

- the Qlik Connector for SAP (e.g. for QlikView or Qlik Sense) requires an RFC connection from the Qlik server to the SAP Application/Message Server and requires SAP Transports to be installed within the ABAP stack of SAP. Please check if those options are available to you.

- the public Cloud version of S/4HANA does provide a set of standard APIs through BTP (api.sap.com) which can be consumed using the Qlik REST Connector. This also applies for client managed SAP system variants.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Matthias

Thanks @MatthiasAnders for your reply.

Our goal is to use the connector to fetch some information like BOM (Bill of Material), Open orders, stocks, and generally call SAP reports/functions to get data pre-calculated by SAP in order to reduce the amount of script inside the BI to transform and produce the data.

I know all of this is possible using Qlik Connector for SAP, i used it for a log time in the past but i'm pretty sure our S/4HANA on-premise on Rise does not support RFC connections.

Is there a way to get above information (BOM, open orders, stocks... reports ) using API? i tried to navigate the site api.sap.com but honestly i didn't found nothing about this. Do you have an example? Thanks

Hi Michele,

typically RFC connections and the import of transports should be possible. But of course you need to check with your infrastructure Team.

Please check this sample API: https://api.sap.com/api/OP_API_BILL_OF_MATERIAL_SRV_0002/overview

This is available within SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition.
