SaaS Time Zone - change?

Hi there.

a consultant set up Qlik Sense Business (SaaS) for us in England and now our system time is UTC - 7 hours ahead of our operations.  So, when vMaxDate to "Today()", it jumps to tomorrow 7 hours too early.  We tell it to look for "today's" files and compare "Today's" values and so putting Today-7hours everywhere seems ridiculous.

Any good solutions?

thank you

Hello,

Thanks for brining this.

As we know Qlik Cloud is a different product than Qlik Sense client-managed is and functionalities might differ. Qlik Cloud have great new capabilities like AutoML, Alerting out of the box, Automations and much morem but not security rules or other that Qlik Sense client-managed has.

That said, this, currently, seems to  be working as per its design. If you would like to bring this to the attention of our Product Managers for an enhancement, then the path to follow is create an Idea on Ideation and they will review and assess.

I am sure they will be glad to review it and provide feedback on it as such is not on Support's team purview. Kindly let us know once has been created so the rest of the community can follow up on it.

Cheers,

Albert

Hello @leestory ,

Thanks for posting.

Do you get UCT time if you try a KPI with now() function?

How do you know it jumps 7 hours, today() does not return for example:  2022-09-05 00:00:00.

Is the tenant url using us or eu?

When is your app reloaded?

Cheers,

Albert

Hi Albert

Now() returns 7 hours ahead and today() returns today until 5pm then it returns tomorrow.

it us a US url and reloads around 4 am pst (11 am UTC)

Hello @leestory ,

I was trying =now on a KPI object on a US tenant and still I got the UCT time for it.

Could you share the steps on how you get the UCT-7 as you mentioned you are using variables, so I can execute the same on a US and EU tenant and see if we see any difference.

Cheers,

Albert

@Albert_Candelario Have the same problem.
We are running on a EU tenant and we are located in Sweden (UTC+2).
But the TimeZone() function returns GMT?
The Today() script function thus is two hours late.
Loadscript running between 12am and 2am (Swedish time) thus return the wrong date from Today()!
In tenant Management Console and Hub times are displayed in Swedish time (UTC+2).
Scheduled reloads and Application Automations are set in UTC+2 (Europe/Stockholm).
applications were migrated from Sense On Premise to SaaS and this shoud not be a problem!

Have filed a Support Case on this (#00053674).

A similar request had already been submitted to Ideation and I have supported.
Got the same answer back from Support that it is per design!
A very poor design, running in a SaaS environment you should not suddenly be teleported
to a different timezone just because your servers are located somewhere else.
Servers and timezones should be allocated according to the customers main location.
And using GMT as a basis for EU servers is a very strange choice.

Sorry to say I don't see your answers as solutions (as you have marked them) but poor workarounds.
A customer migrating into Cloud should not experience this change in timezones.
