Hub won't start after setting up Azure SAML authentication

I've set up a new Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows deployment, and it all works fine if I sign in locally and look at the hub. Then I tried to set up a new virtual proxy to use Microsoft Entra SSO with Qlik Sense following the instructions here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/saas-apps/qliksense-enterprise-tutorial 

I think the user authentication is working because I can see the new user has been created in the QMC and I can see that their licence usage time is updated when I try to log on. But the web browser that should show the hub is blank - it just seems to get stuck loading and it doesn't come back with anything. 

Can someone help me find what I've done wrong?
