We attempted to upgrade our environment (Currently May 2020) after completing the first round we had issues with a rim node that caused the upgrade to fail. Upon trying to repair the install the server hung up in the middle and became inoperable.
We are working to get things back to the way they were before the attempt but my question is: Is it possible to backup the apps/database/QlikData and restore that to another server that is on the most current release?
There are quite a few updates to go through to get current so if possible it would be great if we could move them over to a new machine rather than attempting to upgrade through each.
Hello @mattdetwiler,
Is not recommended to restore a DB backup on a newer version, is strongly advised to restore it on the same version.
I hope this answers your question.
Cheers,
Albert
Well... Deleting the rim node and going through that process is what crashed our server last time. I just need to know if I can restore a backed up database and apps to a new version.
Hi, I suggest you take a look at the upgrade procedures in the help. It explain how to backup and move the system to another server.
Yes I'm aware of that I just need to know if data/apps from a May 2020 release will restore properly to a Nov 2023 server. If that was in that document I didn't see it.

Apps and qvd files should not be a problem.
As Albert states the repository DB most certainly not!
Restore on same version and then update from that.
In the installers are included updates of the repository DB that includes changes to the DB.
