NPrinting Folder Structure

Hi,

we have trouble to send Reports with the Server and from the Client.

Client did worked but we changed the output-folder and now it doesn't.

Sever never worked.

Is the server using any of the client folders?

Hi Markus,

NPrinting Server will use the same paths as defined in the Client. If NPrinting Server is running on a different physical machine you will need to mirror the paths used on that machine or use custom variables, environment variables and relative paths or a combination of the three. NPrinting supports environment variables, custom variables and relative paths in template files and .qvw paths. When you move your project you'll only need to change the variable values. Please see: How to Use Environment Variables – Customer Feedback for Vizubi

When using NPrinting Server, ensure that the Active Account has access and full rights to all folders where reports will be placed. If you are using the Create folder if it does not exist option, make sure the Active User has the necessary privileges to create folders as well. You can log in as that user on the server machine to test.

Do not use mapped drives - always use UNC paths to reference folders on a network. Make sure that the Active Account has access and rights to these folders as well.

if you have a client isntalled on the server, can you run it without error?  Make sure all of your paths within your nsq use UNC pathing and not mapped drives.  Since not all machines have the same mapped drives in either drive letter or location, unc pathing ensures that where the nsq is run the files can be accessed (assuming no authority issues accessing them)

what is the error being encountered - should be in the server log
