PostgreSQL backup using Netbackup agent

Apologies, i was struggling to find a more appropriate forum.

I've already approached Qlik Support regarding this, but it wasn't covered in the contract understandably.

We're trying to setup Netbackup PostgreSQL agent to periodically backup the QS repository db.
Our server team have been working with Veritas for a long time and their support haven't made much progress.

Veritas have now reached out to ask the following.
Could you engage Qlik support to see if they can help with the repeated messages we are receiving in the postgrest log?
"2023-05-02 23:58:57.157 BST [3436] LOG:  archive command failed with exit code 1"
There doesn't seem to be any obvious answers online that cover this error code and I can confirm the syntax of the copy command is 100% correct.
Here it is for reference: 'copy "%p" "C:\\archivedir
%f"'
this issue seems to be creating endless amounts of 0kb .ready files in D:\PostgreSQL\11\data\pg_wal\archive_status - which i believe are meant to identify a segment as being ready to be written as a WAL.

Any help appreciated.

This is not how we regularly backup postgreSQL and what Qlik Support can help is limited.

What I found from this blog is  “.ready” files means archiving of a segment failed for whatever reason:

https://www.dbi-services.com/blog/__trashed-3/

If you run the copy command separately, will it be executed?

If possible, could you please use the pg_dump command instead to backup https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-admin/February2023/Subsystems/DeployAdministerQSE/Content/Sense_De...

which has ben tested and verified.

At this stage, it will help to engage PostgreSQL expert or support if you would like to fix your solution.

Hello @stukennedy,

Another path for seeking resolution might be engaging PostgreSQL Community as well here to get some input on what could be the culprit here.

PostgreSQL: Community

Cheers,

Good morning @Vicky_Z
Thanks for that.  It's something for us to look further in to.  Sorry for the late reply, I've been on Paternity leave.

I'll pass this on to the backup team.  It certainly doesn't seem to be an issue with Qlik, obviously so i was just hoping someone had experienced it.

I didn't actually think about using Postgresql community, so that's another path as you mentioned, thanks @Albert_Candelario

Kind regards
