Why Qlik Insight Advisor is not more popular?

Hi all!

With Bard and ChatGPT, the "NL generated visualization and insights" has become a really hot topic these days, but Qlik has had this functionality since 2019 with the Insight Advisor.

I've asked a lot of consultants and Qlik experts, but I couldn't find a single company that was using this resource in their day-to-day operations to solve problems.

I've been conducting some tests with this tool, and everything has been working fine so far. This led me to ask myself, and now I'm asking you guys, why is almost no company using this? Is it a "red flag" regarding the Insight Advisor?

I know there are many commercial presentations highlighting how the tool can help companies, but is anyone really using it? Do you guys have any use cases?

Please let me know your thoughts and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Wederson!

I also question myself about it and, in my experience, I've never seen Insight Advisor being used in professional environment. I've only seen some uses in academic videos or demonstrations.

I confess that I myself tried to use it a few times and they were not very satisfactory, at least not to the point of making me want to use it again. Perhaps, after this little discussion, I can try to open myself up a little more to this functionality.

Regards

Cezário.

It is a very good question.  As a Qlik Partner in South Africa, we have 20 years of Qlik activity.  In many cases, our mature clients are busy with QlikView to Qlik Sense migrations or are post-migration.  The teams have often quite a few years of experience.

The trouble I see is that many QlikView techniques have followed into Qlik Sense.  Not all are bad, but with Insight Advisor, the product is expecting certain Data Manager results.  The most simple way to explain is the modern calendar (DECLARE).  I more often than not see no modern calendar in a migrated App.  In brand new Apps, quite often a mature Qlik developer immediately brings in their "master calendar technique".  Both result in the same for Insight Advisor which sees no calendar information, and therefore, the most basic NL question "what are my sales for Jun 2023" will fail.

Moving beyond this basic to Business Logic is non-trivial, and it is hard to invest time here.  Right now, it is a point on our radar.  No doubt about Qlik's improvements. For myself, I still need to understand more of the details.

Hello,

To continue this discussion,

First : Business logic is too complex and a Qlik application evolves very quickly, no one want to waste time on it.

Second : Some analysis don't work with a "normal calendar", I never see a Qlik application which use autogenerated calendar.

Third : I don't know why but for some analysis Qlik show the field instead of master items, so users can be confused between this two concept.

Just to throw in my two cents, I have concerns that it will give misleading results and the time it would take to ensure it's working properly just isn't worth the return we would get.  I'm guessing a small number of users would use it regularly so it becomes a very low value feature.

Greetings @wedersoncabrla !

I have been playing with Insight Advisor lately, because an existing customer asked for the capability for one of their VPs who wants to interact with QSE as if it were chatting with ChatGPT or similar.

As others have mentioned in this thread, Insight Advisor is not good enough, or easy to configure, beyond basic use cases.  Furthermore, the list of "IA can not do ..." is too long.  Just check the attached document (I just posted another note asking for the most recent version of it).

My hope is that the recent acquisition of Kyndi will help move the NL capabilities in QSE beyond what is currently possible using Insight Advisor, but QLIK is being very quiet about what is doing with Kyndi's IP.  Perhaps we will know more in June during Qlik Connect.

Cheers,

++José

Hello, I myself have been trying to use and learn how  Qlik Insight Advisor in microsoft teams works  , You need to take time to understand how it works and its user intent understanding is not quite good like it has many limitations where you need to mention the measure, filter, and dimension. If your question is not formulated well, it will lead to misleading results. Often when you check the result manually, sometimes it throws you wrong answers and is not quite good at understanding grammar issues where it is difficult to depend on it .hope we will see future developments specially in understanding user intent ..By the way do you know any other better options for conversational analytics ?
