Hi,

To my knowledge the Expression will not allow you to use functions in the left side.

i.e. SubField([CS-IP], '.', 1) ---- is not allowed. Instead you can add additional field in your load with this function. So that it could be used in Set Analysis.

Hi,

Synthetic keys occur when there are more than one field having the same name. An application having synthetic keys will have duplicate values in it and the user using the application will not be guided in the right path or the desired output for which a particular application is made will be got. There is a high chance of error in reports if synthetic keys exists in a qlikview Application.

Where to find QlikView Jobs

This is a serious question. I am a recruiter looking for a couple of good QlikView folks (we are QlikTech Partners, so I will be looking again), and I would like to know where this community looks for jobs, so I can post jobs there. Dice and LinkedIn? Referral?

I have actually created a User Group called QlikView Jobs, here, within QlikView Community and posted two jobs there. I hope the group catches on. Wouldn't it be great if there was only one place that acted as a clearing house for all QlikView jobs? Whew! Headhunters would go out of business!

The group actually E-mailed me notification of those jobs (postings) after, so I guess if you are a member of that Group, every Discussion (job posting) will get E-mailed to you, if your settings ask for that. (nice!)

Anyway, you can see the jobs directly, by clicking here, and proceeding to "Non-Location-Dependent" jobs.

(but please let me know of other places to post!)

Comparing Dates

I need some help. I have 3 tables one table contains a transaction date and the other contains a plan date. I also have a Date table which contains (actual date, Fiscal Year, Fiscal Period, Fiscal Week, and Week Ending date). I need to be able to look at my transaction date and plan date in one pivot table. The user needs the ablility to select a Fiscal Year, Fiscal Period or a Fiscal Week. How can I tie all these dates together?

Hi ,

Yes you can use

num(255,'(hex)') it will convert 255 into hexadecimal value that is FF

For more reference please use help in Qlikview

Hi,

I think only way to do this is in macro

sub hex_convert
   
    hex_val = hex(255) 'converts 255 to FF
    MsgBox (hex_val)
   
    value = CInt("&H" & hex_val) 'coverts &FF to 255
    MsgBox (value)

Hi tiro2k9,

in the UI you have to refer to your variable as =varText

Another possible solution is =Chr(39) & $(varText) & Chr(39)

Hi Christian, Thanks for the reply. Actually I have tried it but it did not work out. Here is an example for what I want to accomplish:

1) Declared a variable in script LET varText = Chr(39) & 'Tyro2k9' & Chr(39);

2) Accessing this varTest variable in a TextObject in dash board as ='$(varText)'. Ideally the output in text box should be 'Tyro2k9' but reload in script results in an error.

you can use the function Chr(39). Concatenation works best with &.
